For greater sustainability in theater: Our product TackIt!
Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in the theater sector. This is evident, among other things, by the fact that the Theater Technical Association (DTHG) is also increasingly focusing on sustainability. Since September 2022, the Green Book for Theater has also been available in German, illustrating how sustainability can be implemented in set design theater and stage design theater. It addresses sustainable production, sustainable buildings, and sustainable organisation.
At HOAC®, sustainable scenic design and set design theater have long been a central topic. With the innovative TackIt system made of aluminium, a solution has been created that significantly contributes to the sustainability of modern stage design theater. The Most Important Information at a Glance
- Traditional substructures made of wood create a lot of waste after theater performances, which is not sustainable.
- The TackIt system by HOAC® offers a solution to this problem. It consists mostly of aluminium and can be flexibly extended.
- Thanks to its expandability, combinability, reusability, and recyclability, the TackIt system is sustainable and environmentally friendly, making it a valuable asset for scenic design, stage design theater, and set design theater.
Sustainability in Theater: What is the Actual Problem?
At the end of a production, the entire scenic design and set design theater are often disposed of. This particularly concerns the substructure, which is usually custom-made from wood for a specific performance. After the show, it can no longer be used, leading to excessive waste that should be avoided.
However, it is not only the resulting waste and its environmental impact that pose a problem. With these outdated systems, it must already be clear at the beginning of the stage design theater process where each stage decoration can be installed. Currently, stronger wooden beams are only installed in load-bearing areas to accommodate decorations. Subsequent changes are common and involve unnecessary time and financial effort in traditional set design.
The HOAC® Solution: The TackIt Concept
For every challenge, there is a solution. Instead of wood, profiles made of metal can be used in the substructure. These are individually adjustable in length, can be expanded as needed, and are reusable. Our TackIt profile has long been established on the market.
The TackIt profile consists of an aluminium base containing a wooden or PVC strip of approximately 2 x 2 cm. If the strip is no longer usable, it can simply be replaced. The profiles can be easily assembled using corner connectors. Materials can be attached to the wooden or PVC strip by stapling, screwing, or nailing. As all materials are not permanently bonded, they can be recycled separately. This innovative approach sets a new standard for set design theater and stage design.
The Advantages of the TackIt System Made of Aluminium
Sustainable
The TackIt profile contributes to both ecological and economic sustainability in stage design and set design theater. The profiles can be reused multiple times. If necessary, only the narrow wooden or PVC core needs to be replaced, which requires significantly less material than an entirely wooden structure.
Sustainable Recycling
If the wooden or PVC core is no longer usable, it can be removed and disposed of separately, returning it completely to the circular economy – an essential aspect for modern scenic design and stage design theater.
Subsequent Adjustments
The profile can bear significantly more load than wood. Therefore, spontaneous changes in stage design are always possible.
Stable Substructure
Due to its shape and aluminium material, the TackIt profile is ideal for use in substructures for set design and stage design theater.
Flexible Shapes
Unlike wood, aluminium profiles can be bent, opening completely new possibilities in scenic design and set design theater.
Compatibility
At HOAC®, product compatibility is always a priority. As usual, the TackIt profile is also compatible with other HOAC® profile systems, offering seamless integration for stage design and set design projects.
